AIDS/HIV/HepC Nightline

San Francisco Suicide Prevention

PURPOSE: The Nightline is an emotional support telephone line for people with HIV/AIDS and/or Hepatitis C concerns. Open from 5pm to 5am, we are the only HIV emotional support line open during the nighttime hours.

VOLUNTEER NEEDS: The Nightline has over forty volunteers who offer emotional support by answering calls on our telephone lines. Volunteers complete a forty hour training course that includes both classes and supervised time answering calls. After graduation from the training course, volunteers are asked to commit to three four-hour volunteer shifts a month for a period of six months. Prospective volunteers need not have any specialized HIV knowledge; we look for sensitive, dedicated individuals who can follow an active listening philosophy and have no reservations talking to our diverse clientele.

ADDRESS: We are located at a confidential address near to the Montgomery Bart station in San Francisco, CA.

CONTACT INFORMATION: For volunteer inquiries, please contact Katie Williams or Rolph Shanabruch at (415) 984-1902.

The information above can be found on the official website of AIDS/HIV/HepC Nightline. For more details about the organization and to find out how you can volunteer, please visit their website: http://www.sfsuicide.org/our-programs/hiv-nightlines
