Care Through Touch Institute

Description of Organization and/or Volunteer Opportunities Available:
Our mission is to be present with suffering and promote healing through human connection. We began in l983 in Berkeley caring primarily for people living with HIV/AIDS. In 1997 we relocated to San Francisco.  Our staff of certified massage therapists work in the City’s most vulnerable neighborhoods: The Tenderloin, South of Market, Mission and Bay View/Hunter’s Point.

We foster connection through free trauma-informed seated massage therapy. Our target populations are those isolated due to age, illness or income with an emphasis on those who are unhoused, struggling with mental health issues and/or addiction in the city of San Francisco. We go where the need is greatest, working in a variety of locations from service centers to directly on the streets, always honoring the dignity and beauty of each person we touch.

We are currently seeking volunteers to grow our community of service oriented massage therapists. Positions are available for ongoing work and one off events. Training is provided.
You must be a CAMTC certified massage therapist or current student in a certified massage program to volunteer with us. Those with experience in bodywork or out of state licensure will also be considered

The information above can be found on the official website of Care Through Touch Institute. For more details about the organization and to find out how you can volunteer, please visit their website: http://www.carethroughtouch.org/get-involved
